Mr. Balli practices regulatory law, civil litigation, corporate law, gaming law/regulation, national regulatory and alcohol licensing, sports and other development entitlement/zoning approval, governmental liability and actively represents political candidates and their campaign committees.
Mr. Balli has extensive experience with local government relations in the field of regulations and entitlements required for development, which includes permitting to full zoning approval. In the past ten years, he has obtained approval of numerous projects with a combined value in excess of a billion dollars. One recent example, Mr. Balli represented the Atlanta Braves and its related entities in the transition from Turner Field to Cobb County and the entitlement of Truist Park, the Battery Atlanta mixed- used development and the FAA approval of what is the tallest building in Cobb County, the innovation qualification tower for Thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas. The Atlanta Braves and its related entities remain one of Mr. Balli’s most valued clients.
In addition to government relations, Mr. Balli is an experienced litigator who has represented clients in federal and state litigation throughout the trial and appellate courts of Georgia and Alabama, including the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Balli also represents governmental entities and serves as City Attorney or general counsel for numerous local governmental clients in the State of Georgia. Mr. Balli is a veteran of the United States Air Force and a recent Political & Law issue of James Magazine identified Mr. Balli as one of Georgia’s most influential and politically connected attorneys.
Mr. Balli served from 2017-2024 as Vice Chair and a Commissioner on the Judicial Qualifications Commission tasked with investigating trial and appellate judicial misconduct. Mr. Balli currently is an appointee of the Cobb County Local Legislative Delegation to the Board of the Cobb-Marietta Water Authority and is a board member of the MPA Advisory Board at Kennesaw State University. On a personal note, Mr. Balli fell in love with Alaska in 2018 and spends as much time as reasonably possible working from the Alaska office and, when not working, enjoying the magnificence that is Alaska.
